Kanye West Will Be Showing at Paris Fashion Week . . . Sort Of

The details of West’s presentation are few and far between.

Kanye West has been laying relatively low for almost a year now since canceling his Saint Pablo Tour back in November 2016 following a public breakdown. While he’s been photographed occasionally, either getting dinner with his wife, Kim Kardashian West, or taking a meeting with Donald Trump, his professional projects appeared to be on an indefinite hold. That is, until some fashion insiders received invitations via nude socks for his Yeezy Season 6 presentation during Paris Fashion Week.

West has previously shown exclusively during New York Fashion Week. It was reported earlier this month that West had canceled his show in New York, but it now appears that he’s simply following in the footsteps of brands like Rodarte and Proenza Schouler and switching locations to Paris. West has become known for creating, for better or worse, wild spectacles during Fashion Week—holding his shows at places like Madison Square Garden and Roosevelt Island. This month’s presentation in Paris, though, will reportedly be a more low-key affair.

“There was never a show on the N.Y.F.W. schedule,” a source told People. “There was basically a hold in the event Kanye opted to show during N.Y.F.W. There will be a presentation or showroom for the Season 6 collection, just not during N.Y.F.W.”

West’s showing will come close to the one-year anniversary of Kardashian’s armed robbery during Paris Fashion Week on October 3 of last year. Kardashian hasn’t been back to the city since the crime, which resulted in $10 million worth of her jewelry being stolen, and has no plans to return for her husband’s show, with her rep telling Entertainment Tonight that she has “work commitments.”

It was recently revealed that Kardashian had received an apology letter from Aomar Ait Khedache, the alleged mastermind behind the jewel heist. “I want to come to you as a human being to tell you how much I regret my gesture, how much I have been moved and touched to see you in tears,” he wrote, according to TMZ. “Know that I fully sympathize with the pain you are enduring, your children, your husband, and your close ones.”

Sources told TMZ that Kardashian wasn’t left feeling reassured by the letter, believing that Khedache only wrote it to look better before his trial (he sent the letter to the judge, who then passed it along to Kardashian’s lawyers).

According to People, West may not even attend his own presentation this week. While Kourtney Kardashian has been photographed in Paris along with her boyfriend, Younes Bendjima, it’s too soon to say whether she’ll attend her brother-in-law’s showing as a family representative.
